How to make a Dutch Courage

Shake it in a highball with ice cubes. About 3 minutes.

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
  2. Add the gin, advocaat liqueur, fresh lemon juice, and apple juice to the shaker.
  3. Shake vigorously until well-chilled.
  4. Strain the mixture into a chilled highball glass.
  5. Garnish with a lemon slice.

Bartender’s tips

  • For a more traditional touch, swap the gin for genever, which pairs exceptionally well with the rich flavor of advocaat.
  • Ensure you shake the drink thoroughly to fully emulsify the thick advocaat liqueur with the fruit juices.
